Soaking potatoes is a simple yet effective culinary technique used to enhance the texture, flavor, and cooking quality of this versatile vegetable.
The process involves immersing raw, peeled, or unpeeled potato slices, wedges, or chunks in a bowl of cold water for a specific period of time, typically ranging from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the desired outcome.
This method is often employed to remove excess starch from the surface of the potatoes, which can result in a crispier texture when frying or baking. By eliminating some of the starch,
the potatoes are less likely to stick together during cooking, ensuring an even and appealing finish.
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 Potatoes medium sized
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS:
Rinse the potatoes and dry throughly. Cut the potatoes into wedges and pat dry with paper towels.
Add wedges, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl and mix to coat. Pour in the olive oil to the seasoned wedges and toss to coat.
Preheat Air fryer at 400F for 3 to 5 minutes. Place the potatoes in the Air fryer basket in a single layer.
Air fry at 400F for 15 minutes shaking the basket halfway through or turning the wedges until they're fork-tender, crispy, and golden brown.
Remove the fried wedges and serve immediately with your choice of sauce or as a side dish.
