Ingredients:
For the Cake:
1¾ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups granulated sugar
1½ teaspoons baking powder
1½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup hot brewed coffee
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the Ganache Surprise Center:
1 cup heavy cream
1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
For the Frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2½ cups powdered sugar
¾ cup cocoa powder
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate curls

Maraschino cherries
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, vanilla, and coffee. Beat until smooth and well combined.
Pour into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack.
For the ganache: heat cream in a saucepan until simmering. Pour over chocolate chips and butter in a bowl. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Chill until slightly thickened.
For the frosting: beat butter, then gradually add powdered sugar, cocoa, milk, and vanilla. Beat until fluffy.
